Millhand Co.

Five steps, no mystery

  1. I

    A conversation

Call, email, or use the contact form on this site. Tell me what you’re picturing, roughly how big it needs to be, and what you want out of it. No charge, no pressure, no sales visit dressed up as a consultation.

  2. II

    Measure & draw

I come out, measure the space or talk through sizing, and draw it — plans you can actually read, with materials, style, and finish decided together.

  3. III

    A written bid

One fixed price, itemized, valid for 30 days. It covers material, build, finish and installation. If something changes mid-job, you approve it in writing first.

  4. IV

    In the shop

Rough lumber gets milled, joints get cut and fitted, and everything is finished before it leaves. You get progress photos as it goes.

  5. V

    Delivered & stood behind

I deliver and set up every piece myself — built-ins scribed and shimmed to the house, furniture placed exactly where you want it — and haul my mess out with me. Anything that moves, sticks or fails on my account, I come back and fix.

Hardwoods

White oak, walnut, cherry, hard maple, alder and knotty pine, bought rough and milled here — the right choice when solid wood is what the piece calls for.

Casework

Hardwood plywood boxes, framed or frameless depending on the look you want. Drawer boxes built solid and square, sized to the opening.

Finishes

Hardwax oil, conversion varnish, or paint in any color you bring me — sprayed in a dedicated finish room for a smooth, even coat.

Choosing what to use

The right material for the job — hardwood where it earns its keep, MDF or plywood where paint and budget make more sense. We’ll figure out together what makes sense for your piece.

Hardware

Hinges, slides and pulls sourced to match the piece — soft-close where you want it, standard where you don’t. Your call, not a house standard.
